The closing ceremony of the Target  for Gender Equality and Climate Ambition Accelerator Project in China organized by the United Nations Global Compact was held on February 23 at the Shanghai Logistics Center of Shanghai Master Kong Holdings, and Leverage was invited to participate.

In 2022, the United Nations Global Compact will launch the Target for Gender Equality and Climate Ambition Accelerator Project in China, building a platform for capacity building and experience exchange for Chinese member companies, and providing global and local best practices, peer learning and expert support.Participants also join a growing network of business peers, UN agencies, government, media and academic experts working together to promote diverse, inclusive corporate initiatives and advance climate action.

The dual accelerator program landed in China at the same time, providing a platform for enterprises to obtain professional support, capacity improvement and experience exchange opportunities in the two important sustainable development dimensions of climate environment and society.

At the beginning of the meeting, Liu Meng, the Asia-Pacific representative of the United Nations Global Compact, and Chen Yingrang, the CEO of Tingyi Holdings, gave welcome speeches respectively, and then Siddharth Chatterjee, the UN Resident Coordinator in China, delivered a keynote speech.

After that, Liu Meng, General Representative of the Asia-Pacific Region of the United Nations Global Compact, and Siddharth Chatterjee, the United Nations Resident Coordinator in China, presented certificates to the corporate students participating in this year's accelerator program respectively.

On behalf of Leverage, Mr. Qu Weifeng accpeted the completion certificate of the Target for Gender Equality (TGE) accelerator project.

Ms. Du Qingqian accepted the certificate of completion of the Climate Ambition Accelerator (CAA) program.

The Climate Ambition Accelerator (CAA) helps companies gain a better understanding of what it means to set ambitious, science-based carbon reduction targets. Participants also learned about the latest carbon reduction standards and climate action trends at the global and local levels.

The Target Gender Equality (TGE) Accelerator Project  is based on the gender difference analysis tool based on the principle of women's empowerment, helping companies to carry out quantitative performance analysis, holding expert seminars, and providing tools and resources to promote corporate "diversity, equality and inclusion" actions.

During the meeting, the host specially invited Mr. Qu Weifeng to share about the Climate Ambition Accelerator (CAA): The following is the interview and dialogue between the two parties:

Host：Your company submitted the SBTi scientific carbon target during the CAA project and passed the target verification. Is there anything you want to share with us?

LVG Qu Weifeng：Hello everyone, I am Qu Weifeng from Leverage. It is a great honor to be invited to participate in this event. I would also like to thank UNGC for the Gender Equality and Climate Ambition Accelerator Program;

As a Chinese international organization focused on providing sustainable technology services to enterprises, with the guidance and support of this CAA program, we deeply understand the SBTi Scientific carbon Target Initiative and released the Carbon Neutrality Roadmap Action Report on April 22, 2022. We also submitted Leverage's science-based carbon target to SBTi in September 2022, and in November we passed the dual approval of net zero commitment and science-based carbon target;

We want to tell you through our actions that the goal of carbon neutrality and carbon peaking or sustainable development are not the "patent" of large enterprises or foreign enterprises. We smes can also do it well, and Chinese enterprises also could have excellent practice performance.

It is an encouragement for us to pass the verification of the SBTi ; this strengthens our determination to achieve the goal of carbon neutrality, and also enhances our confidence in providing customers with dual-carbon services;

We look forward to cooperating with more stakeholders and partners to jointly move towards net zero emissions, practice SDGS13 climate action, promote sustainable development of enterprises, and protect our common home - the earth;

At the end of the meeting, all the guests jointly lit up the light boxes representing all SDG goals and took a group photo.

Leverage, as a member of the UN Global Compact, the ILO SCORE Licensing Agency for Corporate sustainability, and a number of international organizations, has been actively promoting corporate sustainability. Leverage is also working with many partners to promote accelerator programs and help companies set SBTi goals to support their carbon reduction goals. At the same time, it promotes the practice of gender equality in the organization, creates a fair and inclusive workplace for female employees without prejudice, promotes the career development of female employees, and thus contributes to the realization of the sustainable development goals of the enterprise.
