Leverage was invited to the GRI Mining Industry Standards Public Opinion Seminar

The GRI Mining Industry Standards Public Opinion Seminar was held online on April 18. Mr. Qu Weifeng, General Manager of Leverage, was invited to participate in the online meeting.

In this seminar, the draft of GRI Mining Standard had been outlined and had provided guidance on how to provide formal feedback. The guests participated in this meeting are all senior industry players like Verna Lin, Head of , Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) of China, Sun Lihui, Director of China Chamber of Commerce of Metals, Minerals&Chemicals Importers&Emporters, Qi Ding, Chief Analyst and Executive General Manager of China International Capital Corporation Nonferrous Metals Industry, Gao Juntao, Assistant General Manager of the ESG office of Zijin Mining industry, hoping that the opinions of stakeholder representatives from different markets and fields can be sought to become part of a global common standard.

Global Reporting Initiative

Founded in 1997, the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) is an independent international organization co-sponsored by the US NGO Coalition for Environmentally Responsible Economies (CERES) and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP).

GRI provides the world's most widely used sustainability reporting standard - the GRI Standard.Used by thousands of businesses in more than 100 countries around the world, the standard advances the practice of sustainability reporting, empowering organizations and their stakeholders to take action and make better decisions that create economic, environmental and social benefits for everyone.

The latest GRI2021 standard had been divided into three series: GRI general standard, GRI industry standard and GRI topic standard. All organizations would choose to use the Common Criteria when reporting in line with the GRI Standards, which had guided organizations on how to report against the Standards. Organizations would choose to use industry standards according to the industry they operate in. Currently, there are two industry standards for the oil and gas industry and the coal industry, and new industry standards will be released in the future. Organizations would choose to use the issue criteria according to their substantive issue list, and the issue criteria include economic, environmental, and social categories.
