In today's globalized world, sustainable development has become a crucial component of corporate social responsibility. On June 26th, Leverage participated online in the "Moving Forward Faster for 2030" meeting organized by the UN Global Compact, demonstrating our commitment to and support for the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

"Moving Forward Faster for 2030" is an initiative launched by the UN Global Compact aimed at accelerating the private sector's contribution to achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
1. Five Action Areas:
Gender Equality: Achieve equal representation, participation, and leadership at all levels of management, and equal pay for work of equal value by 2030.
Climate Action: Set science-based net-zero targets aligned with the 1.5°C pathway, aiming to halve global emissions by 2030 and reach net-zero by 2050.
Living Wage: Establish joint action plans with contractors, supply chain partners, and other key stakeholders to achieve living wages for all employees by 2030.
Water Resilience: Implement water-related standards in direct operations and supply chains, improve water efficiency and wastewater management, and ensure a positive, collective impact in at least 100 prioritized water basins by 2030.
Finance & Investment: Align corporate investments with SDG policies and strategies, establish SDG-related corporate finance strategies, and track and report on SDG investments and performance.

2. Specific Actions for Water Resilience:
Implement water-related standards in direct operations, integrating contextual or scientific information into target-setting practices.
Implement best practices for water efficiency and wastewater management.
Adopt proven innovative technologies for water reuse, recycling, and circularity.
Ensure safe, resilient water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) for employees.
Implement practices that optimize climate-energy-water co-benefits and ensure ecosystem protection.
3. Water Resilience in the Supply Chain:
Understand the most significant water dependencies and impacts within the supply chain and set appropriate internal targets and plans to ensure long-term resilience.
Engage with suppliers in water-stressed basins to improve water efficiency, wastewater management, and provide safe and resilient WASH in the workplace.
4. Collaborative Efforts:
Map water basins where the company operates or has significant interests and internally disclose this information to the CEO Water Mandate secretariat to coordinate action.
Partner with public sector actors to integrate best practices in data, information, and transparency to inform decision-making.
Engage with local communities, including frontline, indigenous, and underrepresented groups, to improve conditions through a human rights-based approach.
Identify and advance new co-financing mechanisms with government and multilateral financing institutions to bridge funding gaps.
5. Progress Tracking & Public Reporting:
Companies will have a one-year grace period after committing to a target, after which they will be required to report on their progress.
6. The Call to Action:
This initiative encourages companies to move beyond rhetoric and take tangible action to achieve faster progress.
Through these specific elements, the "Moving Forward Faster for 2030" initiative provides the private sector with a clear action framework and defined targets, ensuring tangible progress is made toward achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

Through the "Forward Faster" initiative, the UN Global Compact has identified five priority action areas where the private sector can collectively make the greatest and fastest impact by 2030, accelerating progress across all 17 SDGs. Water Resilience is one of these key areas.

As early as the end of 2023, Leverage officially joined the UN Global Compact's "Forward Faster" initiative, committing to dedicate corporate resources to Gender Equality, Climate Action, and Water Resilience to accelerate the achievement of the SDGs. Our goal is to collaborate with other sustainability-focused enterprises to generate greater, faster impact and shape a sustainable global future by 2030.

The CEO Water Mandate is a UN Global Compact alliance dedicated to advancing water stewardship. Operated as a partnership between the UN Global Compact and the Pacific Institute, it provides leading expertise on water resilience and corporate sustainability, equipping businesses with the knowledge and tools to build water-resilient operations and address pressing water challenges related to scarcity, quality, governance, and access to water and sanitation.
Following a communication from the UN Global Compact regarding the "Forward Faster" initiative on May 10th, to ensure all companies committing to the "Forward Faster Water Resilience Target" are recognized for their pledge and can access the resources and opportunities to achieve it, all signatory companies will be integrated into the CEO Water Mandate effective July 1, 2024. Consequently, Leverage will automatically be enrolled in the CEO Water Mandate alliance.
As one of the first 200 companies to join the "Forward Faster" initiative, Leverage's actions demonstrate our leadership and influence in global sustainable development. We look forward to achieving further successes on our sustainability journey and contributing to a greener, more sustainable world.
