On July 27, 2023, the 2nd ESG Development Forum hosted by Southern Weekend, organized by China Corporate Social Responsibility Research Center of Southern Weekend, and provided academic support by the International Research Institute of Green Finance of Central University of Finance and Economics was successfully held. Leverage CEO Mr. Qu Weifeng was invited by the organizer to attend this forum in Guangzhou and give a keynote speech.

With the theme of "Responsible Investment, High-quality Development", this forum will invite representatives from international institutions, ESG investment institutions, third-party rating agencies, universities, enterprises, media and other parties to participate in the forum, and discuss the consensus of responsibility and long-term development of China's pluralistic society with the most high-profile and most appealing pioneers in the ESG field.

On June 30, Leverage just released the 2022 ESG Sustainability Report, which details the company's practices and performance in environmental, social, corporate governance and other areas of responsibility based on the principles of objectivity, standardization, transparency and comprehensiveness. In the past year, Leverage has also been actively implementing the company's ESG strategy, participating in various ESG practices, and working with stakeholders to help achieve sustainable development goals through its own influence.We are well aware that we will face many challenges and difficulties on the road to innovation. ESG in the Chinese context

Global ESG investment is advancing rapidly and has a profound impact on economic structure, industrial standards and consumer preferences. However, different regions should differ when exploring ESG practice paths based on their own economic and social development status and the industry characteristics of the enterprises.

At this forum, many experts and scholars pointed out that China's ESG is booming and has achieved phased results in policy system construction, ESG disclosure, ESG investment and international cooperation.

Meanwhile, at the market level, investors are more and more taking ESG factors into consideration in decision-making, and their evaluation criteria for corporate governance of the investee are becoming more perfect, strict and long-term. They are also more cautious about the risks of investment projects violating national environmental protection and social governance policies, and their participation in environmental protection and common prosperity advocated by the government is becoming more extensive, in-depth and systematic.

Introduction to group standards such as "Guidelines for the Preparation of Corporate Environmental, Social and Governance Reports"

At the same time, Mr. Qu attended the forum as the co-leader of the Sustainable development Standards project team of the Shanghai Federation of Industrial Economy. In his speech, he first shared the preparation process of group standards such as the "Guidelines for the preparation of Enterprise Environmental, Social and Governance reports". Afterwards, he pointed out that the existing disclosure standards at home and abroad cannot well represent the characteristics of China's modernization development and Chinese corporate culture, and hoped that through the formulation of standards, companies can better disclose and respond to corresponding challenges.

The future of ESG is coming

The development of ESG in China is going through a crucial period. How to make the evaluation and disclosure of ESG more standardized and how to make the combination of enterprises and ESG more closely are all important topics.
