The ESG Subcommittee of the China Environmental Protection Union visits the Shanghai Municipal Research Center for Business Development

On April 12, 2024, Committee Member Qu Weifeng of the ESG Subcommittee of the China Environmental Protection Union, along with Director Lin Bin and Deputy Secretary-General Wei Bin, visited the Shanghai Municipal Research Center for Business Development. They were warmly welcomed by Deputy Director Zhang Juan and Researcher Liao Xuan.

During the meeting, both sides first engaged in a friendly exchange regarding the background, work scope, and ESG-related topics of their respective organizations. They then conducted an in-depth discussion on areas such as the submission of cases for the ESG Blue Book, participation in ESG standards, ESG training, and the development of Shanghai's ESG environment. A foundation for future collaboration was also established.

Director Lin Bin of the Subcommittee entrusted Committee Member Qu Weifeng to strengthen communication with the Business Commission and the Research Center, utilizing the influence and think tank resources of the China Environmental Protection Union to support Shanghai's three-year ESG action plan.

The Shanghai Municipal Research Center for Business Development

The Shanghai Municipal Research Center for Business Development is a public institution directly under the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, fully funded by the government. It was established in December 2011 through the merger of the original Shanghai Commercial Economic Research Center, Shanghai Commercial Information Center (established in 1992), and the original Shanghai International Economic and Trade Research Institute (established in 1984, originally a ministry-level organization of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation). The center is an important government think tank in Shanghai and even in China's commerce sector, combining decision-making research with business statistical analysis. It currently employs over 50 professionals and has extensive experience in decision-making consulting, authoritative and timely consumer market and commercial industry data resources, as well as advanced information monitoring systems, forming a series of high-quality research methods, analysis techniques, and research outcomes.
