Gender&Corruption
Behavioral evidence:different patterns of behavior for men andwomen when it comes to taking risks and committing crimes. womentend to behave more honestly and are more concerned about theequity/justice of their decisions
Ti's Global Corruption Barometer:Differences in how men andwomen perceive, experience and tolerate corruption, women are lesslikely to pay bribes
Evidence from the private sector:Evidence from the private sector
How to explain:different behaviors in relation to taking risks issomething socially constructed, women tend to suffer greaterconsequences if caught (more vulnerable to punishment due to genderdiscrimination: they feel more pressured to conform to the rules, greater fear of losing a job)

Due to unequal access to power and gender discrimination (women are confined to the domestic sphere), women experience corruption differently than men.
Women, in general, rely more on public services, but have fewer resources to pay bribes to get them.
Women tend to perceive more negative effects of corruption ontheir lives than men, but in general are less likely to demand accountability, may be less likely to report corruption.

Gender equality work contributes to tackling corruption
Importance of involving women in public life, including in anti-corruption solutions
Possible Steps:
Collecting gender-disaggregated data
Raising awareness about gender-differentiated impacts of corruption
Promoting women's participation in public life, including contributing to systems thatare more responsive to women's needs
Reporting mechanisms must be transparent, independent, accountable, accessible, secure, easy to use and gender sensitive (e.g. women may not want to report to men)

Give full play to the power of women and establish relevant mechanisms to effectively deal with corruption
Inclsive public procureent processes
Victim-centred whistle-blowing mechanisms
Engaging women-owned MSMEs
Addressing sexual corruption in theprivate and purblic sectors
Reduce impact of pubhic heatth crisis on women

Gender equality and business integrity policies can be mutually reinforcing, companies that are more committed to gender equality can effectively improve the situation of women in the C-suite, provide more opportunities for women, and promote their own development through greater policy transparency.
Gender Equality & Women’s Empowerment
Gender equality and women's empowerment are important goals of the United Nations' 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 5 mentions the need to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls. Promoting gender equality and enhancing women's rights and interests are important aspects of corporate social responsibility and the inevitable path to sustainable corporate development. Leverage, as a signatory to the CEO Statement of Support for the Women’s Empowerment Principles, has been committed to promoting gender equality and the protection of women's rights.

The Women's Empowerment Principles, an action initiative launched by UN Women and the UN Global Compact Office, set out a series of issues to be considered in order to help businesses focus on key issues, to promote gender equality in the workplace, market competition and community life.
Principle 1:Establish high-level corporate leadership for gender equality.
Principle 2: Treat all women and men fairly at work – respect and support human rights and nondiscrimination.
Principle 3: Ensure the health, safety and well-being of all women and men workers.
Principle 4:Promote education, training and professional development for women
Principle 5:Implement enterprise development, supply chain and marketing practices that empower women.
Principle 6:Promote equality through community initiatives and advocacy
Principle 7: Measure and publicly report on progress to achieve gender equality.

Leverage participated in the inaugural UNGC Gender Equality Goals Business Accelerator program, which is based on the Women's Empowerment Principles Gender Gap analysis tool to help companies conduct quantitative performance analysis, host expert panels, and provide tools and resources to drive corporate "diversity, equality and inclusion" initiatives. Throughout the program, we take action to advance women's leadership and work with industry partners, markets and communities to promote diversity, equality and inclusion.
ESG is one of the important considerations of corporate social responsibility investment. Promoting gender equality and supporting the career development of female employees is also one of the important ways to reflect corporate ESG practice, which can improve the social benefits and business value of enterprises.
