Leverage witnesses the official launch of the 2023 For Good Award

As early as July 11, 2023, Leverage CEO Mr. Qu Weifeng was invited to Beijing to attend the 2023 For Good Award launch conference. In the final part of the conference, For Good for the Future - China Social Enterprise and Impact Investment Forum officially launched the 2023 sixth to the For Good Award application. Together with other guests, Mr. Qu witnessed the official launch of the 2023 For Good Award.

After preliminary applications and several weeks of review and public opinion investigation, the final results were announced recently: Mr. Qu won the 2023 For Good Award | The title of Annual For Good Entrepreneur, we had also received thecongratulatory letter from the organizing committee to express congratulations.

2023 For Good Award | Annual Top 10 Good Entrepreneur Award is a new special award this year. With the development of the times, many entrepreneurs who hold a sincere heart and work hard to practice have emerged in the industry. They use business means to solve social problems, which not only solves problems for the society, but also adds luster to business.The organizing committee specially added the "Annual For Good Entrepreneur" award to commend the pioneers of the times who have made outstanding contributions in the field of business good. As For Good entrepreneurs, they responded to social concerns, solved social problems with practical actions, set a good practice model for the industry, made business good a consensus for the development of enterprises in the whole society, and truly achieved the efficient unity of commercial value and social value.

Initially, a total of 20 entrepreneurs were selected into the top 10 shortlist of the 2023 For Good Award | For Good Entrepreneur Award, and Mr. Qu was lucky to be among them.

Its functions include supervising and managing the company's overall sustainable development issues and risks and opportunities related to climate change, regularly making decisions and reviewing the company's short-, medium- and long-term goals and performance indicators for sustainable development and climate change strategies, regularly making decisions and reviewing the planning and implementation results of related work, supervising the company's management of potential impacts on sustainable development and climate change, and reviewing potential opportunities and directions in sustainable development policies and market transformation to enhance the company's operational management indicators and sustainable development resilience.

When it comes to what kind of ways should be adopted to practice bussiness For Good, Mr Qu said——

The methodology of enterprises practicing business for good can include the following aspects:

Based on our own services and industry influence, we began to benchmark the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2018, build our own sustainability team, innovate our services, and successively launch sustainability related services such as compliance, ESG, and dual carbon.

We continue to develop sustainable products and services, improve our own sustainability practices, and help our customers practice the integration of sustainability and business, and promote industry partners to work together to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Leverage had promoted the practice and development of ESG in the industry and exerts influence in three main aspects:

2. Service promotion

In the process of standard SDGs, we actively cooperate with brand retailers and other relevant parties, through our certification, audit, training, consulting and other services, in the field of social responsibility, environment, human rights, business ethics and other fields to help supervise and upgrade more than 3,000 enterprises, interview or research more than 70,000 people, training and promotion of more than 10,000 people. We also recommend many companies to join the UNGC to actively implement the SDGs goals and the Ten UN Principles.

3. Promition in Activities

We jointly organize sustainable development seminars, trainings, forums and other activities with our partners to promote the dissemination and practice of sustainable development concepts:

In January 2022, we had participated in the exchange activities of the Yangtze River Delta Green and low-carbon Development Action Community

In April 2022, we launched the SA8000 Corporate Social Responsibility online training course

In June 2022, we were invited to participate in the online Federation Global Compact Leaders Summit

In September 2022, we conducted centralized training on corporate sustainability (SCORE) for suppliers in Yiwu and launched a greenhouse gas verifier course training in Shanghai.

In October 2022, Mr. Qu gave a keynote speech at the China Sustainable Fashion Summit and was also invited by Jianwei Law Firm to share knowledge on ESG compliance.

In November 2022, I participated in the UNGC Corporate Accelerator Ten Questions sharing

In December 2022, I was invited to attend the 2022 Annual CSR Conference of the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai

In December 2022, I was invited to attend the 6th UNIDO Global Science and Technology Innovation Conference and was awarded the title of “Carbon Neutrality Global Action Partner”

We actively disseminate knowledge, concepts and good practices on sustainable development such as compliance, responsible supply chain, ESG and dual carbon through guest sharing or training courses at the above events, aiming to promote responsible practices among relevant stakeholders and contribute to the sustainable development of enterprises and society.

Talking about how to lead Leverage to carry out business for good practices and achieve results, Mr. Qu said——

As a practitioner and disseminator of sustainable development, Leverage not only demonstrates responsible sustainable development good practices to relevant stakeholders through its own actions, but also promotes brands, retailers and suppliers upstream and downstream of the supply chain through its own products and services, actively manages and improves the resilience of the supply chain.

We have been spreading our sustainable development influence by participating in relevant practical activities and promoting it on the official account and official website: we initiated the establishment of the Public Welfare Finance Alliance GSFN to practice public welfare finance and lead capital to good; I also led the team to participate in the first UNGC China "SDG Innovator" competition and won the first prize; our team members also participated in the UNGC's first Gender Equality and Climate Ambition Enterprise Accelerator Project.

As a sharing guest at events such as the 2022 China Sustainable Fashion Summit, the 3rd Global Plant-Based Industry Conference and Carbon Neutrality Charity Forum, the 2023 China Social Enterprise and Impact Forum, the 8th Global Petrochemical Innovation Summit, the 2nd Southern Weekend ESG Forum, and the First Financial Zero Carbon Summit, I have been working hard to spread the knowledge, concepts and good practices of sustainable development such as compliance, responsible supply chain, ESG and dual carbon.

In order to promote the construction of sustainable development standards with Chinese characteristics, as the co-leader of the Sustainable Development Standards Project Group of the Shanghai Federation of Industrial Economics, I initiated and promoted the drafting of standards such as "Guidelines for the Preparation of Corporate ESG Environmental, Social and Governance Reports", "Corporate ESG Environmental, Social and Governance Report Evaluation Criteria", "Corporate Carbon Neutrality Roadmap Action Report Preparation Guidelines", "Corporate Carbon Neutrality Roadmap Action Report Evaluation Criteria", and "Jianghai Plastic Recycling Certification Standards", and am committed to promoting the sustainable development of supply chain stakeholders through industry influence.

Other sustainable practices of Mr Qu

Mr. Qu Weifeng is a practitioner and promoter who is passionate about sustainability. In 2020, as one of the 30 representatives of Chinese entrepreneurs, he signed the "Declaration on Reshaping Global Cooperation" of the United Nations Business Compact, striving to promote ten principles in human rights, labor standards, environmental protection, anti-corruption, etc., fulfilling social civic obligations, and standardizing industry standards. He has always taken practical actions to fulfill his social responsibilities and obligations, promote the cause of peace and development, and contribute to the development of the social community.

Mr. Qu also actively participates in social practices, including but not limited to: sharing low-carbon related information on Shanghai World Cities Day, bringing health and safety knowledge to campus, participating in WWF's One Earth monthly donation activities, participating in various online sustainable development sharing activities, participating in UNICF's child aid monthly donation activities, and establishing the  "Lai" Responsibility Care Committee.

FOR GOOD AWARD

The For Good Award is the first annual purely public welfare award in China with internationally advanced concepts for Chinese social enterprises, impact investment institutions, business-oriented enterprises, business-oriented entrepreneurs and academic researchers.    It aims to reward and encourage social value enterprises, ESG impact investment institutions and individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the development of the industry through business model innovation, sustainable and large-scale solution of social and environmental problems.

In 2023, as the COVID-19 epidemic was declared over at the national and international levels.    On the one hand, we can see that the country is paying more and more attention to major issues such as rural revitalization, dual carbon, and employment.    Through the "Opinions of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council on Promoting the Development and Growth of the Private Economy", we can also see that the country has given guidance on supporting enterprises to participate in major national strategies and supporting private enterprises to better fulfill their social responsibilities.    On the other hand, in the international arena, in order to respond to the impact of the epidemic on human well-being and global sustainable development goals, such as the stagnation and even regression of many goals.    It can also be seen that more and more countries, international organizations, social organizations, enterprises, etc., are paying more and more attention to issues related to the protection of the earth's environment and the well-being of human society, in order to promote the development of the entire human society in a more sustainable mode.

Since 2017, the For Good Award has been successfully held for five sessions, attracting nearly 2,000 companies and projects from across the country to participate, and selecting hundreds of companies and representative practices of impact investment that solve social problems with commercial means.    Over the past five years, the For Good Award has observed that the types, scales, industries, and regions of applicants have become increasingly diverse, and the professionalism, innovation, and influence of social value practices have continued to increase.    The scale and guiding role of impact capital have emerged in more fields.
